LAST time The McClymonts performed at Wests Leagues Club "it was huge", the eldest McClymont sister Brooke told LIVE.
Back by popular demand, the trio will perform a Christmas show at the club tonight to cap off an enormous year one that saw the Grafton-raised country performers release their debut album, Chaos and Bright Lights, and embark on a gruelling national tour schedule."Last time I think we had about 700 people there," the Hunter-based Brooke said of the Wests gig. "Hopefully we'll get that again, and I live here now, so I'm really excited because I'm like a local."Tonight's Newcastle gig will also be a warm-up for their appearance at Carols By Candlelight in Melbourne on Christmas eve.The sisters have been nominated for four Golden Guitars at the Tamworth Country Music Festival in January, after which they will spend three weeks in Nashville writing songs for another album."In March we get back and we're on the road touring until May, then we just got the go-ahead to record our album around then."In June and July we tour again, and the album might be released by August/September . . . so we're busy, busy!"Writing songs generally began with a discussion followed by an argument, Brooke laughed. But eventually songs like their popular My Life Again would come to fruition."We're still trying to work out what direction we want this one to take, but we're definitely going down the country road again for sure."We want to write a smash hit. We're not sure we can but we're going to try!"Catch The McClymonts when they perform at Wests Leagues Club, New Lambton, tonight from 8pm in the Starlight Room. Doors open at 7.15pm. Tickets are $25 for members, and $30 for non-members from the venue.
